Whether or not you’re into football, the Super Bowl is an event for everyone, including foodies. Use the Super Bowl as an excuse to try out new sports-themed recipes or score your own touchdown with your friends and family by winning over their appetites.

Pigs in a Blanket Poppers:
Before you dismiss this recipe from reading the name, take a look at what we’re proposing! We put a fun, creative spin on this simple recipe so that you can surprise your guests with this new favorite appetizer.
- Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
- Standard Hot Dogs
- Cream cheese
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Unroll the crescent rolls and slice them into three smaller triangles. Slice your uncooked hot dogs in half lengthwise, and then cut the hot dogs into four equal pieces. Take the jalapenos and remove the seeds, then mince the jalapenos. Spread cream cheese onto the crescent rolls and sprinkle the minced jalapenos onto the cream cheese. Place a hot dog slice onto a crescent roll triangle, roll it up and bake for 12 minutes (or until golden brown). Serve warm.
Onion Rings with Chipotle Dipping Sauce:
Spice up your onion rings with a chipotle sauce that pairs perfectly for game day. Not to mention that the onion rings are baked for a healthier option on a day that is typically full of heavy foods.
- Medium yellow onion, sliced and rings separated
- 1-1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon ketchup
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon chipotles in adobo sauce
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha
- 1/2 teaspoon spicy brown mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon pickle juice
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and line your baking sheet with aluminum foil and a non-stick cooking spray. Spread the Panko breadcrumbs onto your baking sheet and bake for five minutes. Take the breadcrumbs and place them into a shallow bowl.
Put the flour in one bowl and beat the egg in another bowl. One at a time, dip each onion ring into the egg and then into the flour. Make sure the flour is coated evenly and place the onion ring onto the baking sheet. Repeat with the rest of your rings.
Place in the oven and bake, flipping halfway through, for 15 minutes.
While the onion rings are baking, make your spicy chipotle sauce. In a bowl, stir together the mayo, ketchup, Sriracha, chipotle sauce, chipotle adobo sauce, chili powder, cayenne pepper, spicy brown mustard, pickle juice, salt and pepper. Serve alongside the onion rings.
